Yellow sap like substance on inside walls

Over the last month or so we have had random spots of sticky yellow sap on our walls in weird spots. We thought at first it was something from the kids, spilled something and maybe didn't clean it up right, maybe spilled some kind of candy, or our 6 year old niece that visits and doing something.

But they keep coming back in very random and weird spots. This morning there was on right by a door handle. Sometimes they are on baseboards, and sometimes the wall.

We lived in a house a long time ago where people smoked, and after painting we had the tar/oil come through the paint, but it was more of a liquid that you could wipe off.

You can pick it off, and it scrubs off with a little effort. But would like to know what it is. We got our house repainted about 4 years ago.

We are sure to keep our house humidity wise at a good level, and with the recent nice weather, have been airing our house a lot.

Lived here for over 10 years, and have never had this happen before.

I was thinking if it was water or a humidity issue it would be black mold, not yellow "sap" Its got the consistency of that kids liquid candy you can get, like when it dries. It doesn't run down the walls, it just shows up as random small globs.

My wife is freaking out because she thinks its something inside the walls, etc. But with it randomly showing up on a door, don't think that is the case.. Id like to figure out what is causing it, but have never seen anything like this before.

I think pictures would help us to believe your story. Maybe it's your wife playing tricks, to make you "go crazy"?
It sounds really weird, stuff penetrating the drywall, but not leaving marks on the paint? You could cut a piece of drywall around one ofvtge spots and check behind, but I don't think you will find much. Maybe pictures will help.

No, that's what I thought at first, maybe a moisture issue. But seemed to be in the hallway, then aroumd the corner on a wall, and this morning, on a door to the laundry room. I took some pictures and will take it to a paint store and ask what it may be.

Definitly not my wife, as now she is worked up worried about it. And to me if it was a moisture issue it would be black mold, in areas like the bathroom or laundry room.

I took off the door knob where it appeared and it was underneath the knob too. Maybe something from the paint job coming through after all these years. Some inperfection covered up. But so random, and it doesn't seem to come back in the same spot once we clean it off

Cutting the drywall for this wont be happening, do some digging first before going to that extreme. And its on baseboards and hollow core doors as well.

Any pets with sneezing issues recently? Any particular pattern to the height of the goo?

Well took the pictures to a paint place. Not Home Depot, but an actual paint store.

They said it is called leaching.

https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeow ... surfactant

https://www.dulux.com.au/applicator/tec ... t-leaching

So the fix is to wipe it away and it shouldnt come back. Not sure why it took so long to show up after a repaint of the upper floor and all the doors. The places we have wiped it away it hasnt come back. We just dont seem to catch it in the liquid form, but when it sets up and hardens

Can you post a picture? I feel I may have a similar situation except I used Benjamin Moore Aura paint.

This has only occurred in my living room corner near the ceiling

Condensation likely washing whatever that is down. Maybe construction glue or foam insulation residue?

Hello! I've been having the same exact issues..this substance is showing up all over our walls..on furniture..pictures..blinds..in random spots! Some red, some brown but mainly yellow and clear like slime or snot. Anyone figure what this might be? I've NEVER had this issue in the 10 years we've lived here.

Hi,
My name is Dustin Moss in Salt Lake City. My girlfriend and I are getting the same thing. It started happening a while ago. It was first my the minor in the bathroom. It is like an almost dried piece of Carmel candy. I picked one of and it was hard but a little soft at the same time. Ithought it was something my girlfriend had put there. She is always using the vanity. I asked her about it and she thought it wad me. I playedno attention about it. We have lived in our apartment for two and s half years now and this has never happens jets or anywhere in our lives.

Recently they are popping up in weird places behind doors, at for handles. They are always in a vertical pattern about the middle hinge of a door height. There is some that have five in a row. The new one that is behind the half folding for and behind the fringe have seven. The are popping up in weird places. It is creeping us out. I have pictures and would like to know what this crazy phenomenon that is happening.
